WoW Girls Are Raw

WoW Girls are Raw

“Fuck this guy. Seriously FUCK HIM”
“What a complete asshole”
“You have got to be fucking kidding me”
“Sapped…..feared……feared again…..FUCK ME”

Arena can turn even the nicest church going girls into seafaring pirates from Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship. I have a love hate relationship with arena and I think the feeling is mutual amongest most of its visitors. It brings a pure adrenaline rush like no other aspect in the World of Warcraft.

Leveling on a PvE server will provide you with no background when entering the arena for the first time. My resume sadly consisted of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat which were nothing like the metaphoric octagon that WoW presented me with. It was here that I would learn that I was terribad. People would tear me apart from limb to limb within seconds. My competitiveness kept me requeueing for more pain and suffering. As the fail continued my language would get worse and worse.

“I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK TO DO ANYMORE!?!?!?!”

“I FUCKING CANT STAND ROGUES AND LOCKS CAN GO TO HELL”

I would even surprise myself with new expressions and groans so guttural that the dog would run and hide. I started arena with Melman a season 3-5 Gladiator who was taking a break from arena to do some PvE content. Most of the matches would end with us yelling and screaming at one another.

“Sinn wtf are you doing. YOU ARE THE WORST SHAMAN ON SHANDRIS”

“Mel STFU. He hamstringed me and then bladestormed my face!  YOU’RE A SON OF A BITCH MEL”

Arena became so stressful with Mel I had to quit, it lasted 3 hours.

Today I am focusing on 2v2 matches. It is much easier to find one person to deal with my fail ass than two who will endure it week after week for a measly 300 points. Xiphoid is a badass clicking shadow priest who is willing to put up with me missing a purge and a shock to hear me chug a beer and scream for more.  Last night we reached 1500 at approximately 5:09 am with an eruption in vent so loud you would have thought we conquered hard mode Lich King.

In the end, arena provides me with a place to let my hair down and gives me the opportunity to enjoy a different aspect of WoW. I don’t care if I win or lose. Well OK…I do care. I am in it to win it. Sadly if blaspheme and squealing could win me matches I would already be Gladiator Sinnamon.

    i hear ya sinn

    arena can be sooo stressful

but it just takes practice and you gotta learn how to counter comps

but certain comps will always triumph over others

    thats how it is

but as long as you enjoy the company ur with and try to have fun you should be ok

hope to meet ya in arena

ele sham/shadow priest vs resto sham/mm hunter

    OH BOY!!!

I think PVP brings out the rage in a lot of people. I’ve been really surprised in the past to see otherwise meek or timid people getting absolutely LIVID on vent during battlegrounds or arena.

However, I think some may be offended at the slight against having meager preparation with /only/ Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat under your belt–if anything, playing these games gives you roots!

  3. Kudos from one brainiac to another. :)

Arena can provide some of the best experiences and friendships in the game. It can also create some of the best rivalries. What I find to be one of the most odd things when you compare arenas to raiding, is that I get more quiet in vent for arenas and rage in pve.

And I agree with Krieg on the fact that Street Fighter is an excellant prep tool for arenas. Learning that each character only has a certain attack set that they can use but the player’s skill causing what they actually take advantage of to be different. Same as arena, just more people to deal with :)

2v2 sucks pretty bad. Most of the imbalances in PvP really surface in 2v2 as some teams “stack the deck” with the best comps whose counters are rarely if ever even played.

3v3 is where it’s at for most fun in the arenas I find.

5v5 is just people getting exploded and is the most dead bracket since it’s damn near impossible to find 4 others who share the same views on arena and can log in at the same time.

But yeah 2v2 is the best from the point of view you just need that one buddy to log in and you’re good to go. Too bad they removed rewards from the 2v2 bracket. If you had a great friend to play with, 2v2 was still the most fun despite the broken keyboard here and there.

My Street Fighter experience included the arcade and Super Nintendo versions which are about 20 years old. They were 2D and did not nearly have the gear, composition and spell options that WoW delivers. Playing on a controller back then was also much easier in terms of playstyle. No addons, no gearing advantage etc. Just pick a character and go.

I’d like to remind everyone of Esobe during battlegrounds, back in t7 content. Perfect example of pvp bringing out the worst in people.

  9. Sinn says:

Sev, I can relate. Esobe is usually quite relaxed while in a PvE atmosphere but I was able to witness his rawness while playing Left 4 Dead 2 with some friends. This is exactly what I was referencing above in regards to myself. It’s fun to see a new side of people when they fight to be the last man standing.

  10. Sev says:

I would pay to hear that.

I definitely remember every one of those quotes from the lock/rogue bananza that made us lose almost 100pts.

And to be honest I don’t know if the eruption in vent was due to finally getting over 1500 after 4 hours of grinding when you hopped on at 1 in the morning and said I’m not going to sleep til we get there; or the fact we got there by beating that ret pally/bm team that crapped on us no less than 7 times.

I forget sometimes that we can heal each other….

    hey gurl

i hate arena especially when we lose LOL

but i guess we all like to torture ourselves and get all stressed out
    take a break
    then come back
    and repeat this vicious cycle

    LATERZ HOT GIRL!!!
    nice muscles lol

I think WoW in general brings out the worse in everyone, not just girls TBH. I don’t do Arena (yeah, I might as well rename my toon Bambi if I did because I’m always the deer in headlights when it comes to any type of PvP!) but I’m a raider at heart. But still, the whole house and my workplace knows if I’ve had a bad week in WoW. I’m more aggressive and I’m about as approachable as a feral dog with rabies (more a snarling chihuahua when I think about it since I’m pretty puny in RL) and calling me a bitch would sometimes be a euphemism.

In-game, when we wipe multiple times and people start pointing fingers, I try to maintain focus and keep calm (a lesson learned when I was the raid leader of the guild with real-life friends and I see them at work the next day /shudder). But trust me when I say, don’t cross the line because you’re about to start a war. Feathers will get ruffled and I will hang people out like roasted ducks in the windowsills of a Chinese restaurant.
But I think our characters provide us with alter egos… a mask to hide behind while we pretend how we really are. Like you said, it can turn sweet little angels into little devils. Whether I beat guys in the charts (I’m a healer, that means nothing really LOL) or when I out-roll someone for bids… all I can say is, I will always be proud to wear my “I Make Boys Cry” shirt.
As my old friend used to whisper to me whenever I kick his ass: “Flex baby, flex!!!”

Good write up Sinn! I also suffer from the ocasional nerd rage when things don’t go my way in the arena. Yesterday I yelled at Azzinoth for something silly I don’t even remember, and felt bad about it right away. I had to tell him “Don’t mind me if I rage, its not personal”.

Hello can I instance some of the information from this mail if I furnish a constituent privately to your site?

  18. It was the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five. Spiritual revelations were conceded to England at that favoured period, as at this. Mrs Southcott had recently attained her five-and-twentieth blessed birthday, of whom a prophetic private in the Life Guards had heralded the sublime appearance by announcing that arrangements were made for the swallowing up of London and Westminster. Even the Cock-lane ghost had been laid only a round dozen of years, after rapping out its messages, as the spirits of this very year last past (supernaturally deficient in originality) rapped out theirs. Mere messages in the earthly order of events had lately come to the English Crown and People, from a congress of British subjects in America: which, strange to relate, have proved more important to the human race than any communications yet received through any of the chickens of the Cock-lane brood.
